KAZIRANGA ASSAM ELEPHANT SAFARI

An experience of a lifetime.

We stayed at Fins Weaver Resort, which is fairly new — apparently only about two years old. The staff were consistently friendly and courteous, always willing to assist and ready with a warm smile. There’s a small gym on site that we used briefly before turning in for the night, since we had an early start the next morning.

We were up at 4:30 AM and ready by 5:30. We arrived at the gate at 6:00 and completed the ticket payment process — the elephant safari costs Rs 1,400 per person. The gift shop is worth exploring, stocked with one-horned rhino themed items; I picked up a camouflage baseball hat just before we were told the elephants were ready. There is a raised, machan-like platform where you wait and then, one by one, you are guided onto the elephants. The mahout was already perched and prepared to lead the group.

We began our journey into the misty grasslands at sunrise, setting out for an unforgettable elephant safari across Kaziranga’s vast, dew-kissed plains.Gentle giants carried us through drifting fog and warm golden light to encounter the majestic one-horned rhino — one dozing after a recent skirmish, another wandering calmly through tall reeds, and a lifelong pair standing side by side as they have since birth. Even the perfectly camouflaged hog deer made a quiet, fleeting appearance. Raw, wild, and deeply humbling — truly a must-see, must-feel experience.
