The Leela Goa, South Goa Travel Guide

If you are looking for a luxury Goa trip, nothing can beat the luxurious ,The Leela Goa! Our’s was a short trip, 2 day and 2 nights trip to Goa, scroll down to see photos and details of our trip.

The Leela Goa is a 204-room luxury property located in Cavelossim, right on South Goa's quiet Mobor Beach and an hour's drive from the airport in Vasco de Gama. The drive itself is beautiful with green fields, palm trees and little streets with Goan homes and Goan name plate on the homes.

Generally speaking South Goa is quiet and peaceful and less crowded whereas North Goa is where you will see the parties, markets and the crowds!

Luxury traveling and a place to relax and get away is what The Leela Goa has to offer! It is a gated, private property with guards checking every car before they are allowed to enter. You enter into a green paradise with variety of trees and shrubs and flowers blooming, a Ganesha statue in the center of the plants that you may miss if you don’t pay close attention. Ponds and Lotus blooms with traditional Indian lamps make for some beautiful decor! We were greeted with a welcome drink of coconut water and marigold garlands. Our room was not ready yet so we were asked to wait, which was fine by us since we went exploring around the property and taking photographs. There are plenty of plumeria flowers, if you love them like I do, you will be pleased! You will see me styling these fragrant plumerias in my hair in many photographs!

After we checked into our amazing lagoon facing room we rushed off to the secluded and private beach. The best part of this beach is how quite it is with no crowds at all. There are several lounge chairs available for guests with umbrellas and plenty of shade from the umbrella as well as beautiful palm trees. The ocean itself is a bit of a walk from the lounging chairs but the tranquil experience of the peace and quiet and the ocean breeze is all worth it.

After few hours of lounging and sea swimming we decided to ride the bikes around the property. Everyday you get 30 mins of free rides around the property, there is a charge if you want to continue to use the bikes after 30 mins. Make sure you use that 30 mins a day to ride around the beautiful luxurious property!

There are three shacks close to the private beach property! Lot of tourists smoke at these shacks so if you don’t like the smell of smoke, it will be slightly challenging. Anyway thankfully since this is India (has the world’s largest number of vegetarians), there are several vegetarian options available everywhere. Some Chow Mien and Fried Rice for lunch hit the spot.

If you are looking for parties and dancing and these shacks have night parties every Wednesday. We stuck around for one such party which was mild fun! Night ended with some entertaining fire dancing!

Walks around the property you will find hammocks to relax, benches to lounge and plenty of one with nature spots. After your daily dose of green, move on to the dose of blue! More private lounging with your very own cabanas and food at your service, albeit a little pricey but worth it due to the privacy.

The swimming pool is beautiful as well with waterfalls and lush green and flora around the pool!

The complimentary breakfast that is included with most packages is also a highlight of the resort. Endless delicious breakfast from contiental food to Indian delicacies to a variety of desserts, fruits, juices etc. The place gets packed quick so if you want a prime spot better be get there early. Birds are often visiting to steal your food so there is a guard stationed by the breakfast area with an airgun to scare them away. We saw the bird stealing someone’s food twice before it was shooed away with the airgun. I think it still managed to steal someone’s food once!

We also witnessed a wedding in the neighborhood Holiday Inn Resort! We watched as audience this time instead of photographing the wedding but couldn’t stop myself from taking few photos!

The weather in January is hot although not crazy hot, ladies with long hair, carry your hair styling tools because humidity will make your hair frizzy and sticky! Carry a sunhat, it will come in handy at all times! How to travel with a sunhat and not lose it’s shape, either you carry it with you as a carry on luggage or Flip hat upside down fill the crown of the hat with little items, pack remaining items around the hat holding its form.

Trip ended with one last visit to the beach before we bid adieu to Goa! If you are looking for luxury and quiet and private lounging you will not be disappointed with The Leela Goa!
